It’s so exciting to start a business. Big dreams, big ideas, and then the overwhelm. Even if you already build a website and the branding is on point, you have to promote your business. I have many people reaching out, trying to figure it out, and asking for the “magic formula”.
You can, of course, try to hire an agency, pay for ads and multiple other paid option, but here is a few free ideas to promote your business.
5 ways to promote your business.
1. Utilize social media.
Figure out what social media would be best for your clients and start sharing!
I always tell my clients, that as business owners, we cannot physically do it all. Since we only have 24 hrs in a day, we can’t be on ALL social media – Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, Youtube, Snapchat, Linked In, and much more. Therefore take a little time and think about your target market, and where would they be looking for you. Choose wisely and encourage engagement, share your message, your goals, and products!
2. Email your friends and family.
Yes. I said it. Email your uncle, aunt, and even long-lost cousin. This will not only help you tailor your message, and see what will work best, but also build confidence to reach out and hear the NO, thank you or YES, I didn’t know you do that now! You can ask them for purchase but also you can ask them to share on their social media, and pass your number to their friends.
3. Join a meetup or networking group.
Ideally all of the above – after all you need to share your message, tailor it based on the feedback, and learn how to alter it based on who you are talking to. After all, the same product or service can have different benefits to different groups of people.
4. Press release.
I know your dream of being on Oprah with an amazing product, and getting millions of phone calls from excited clients. Look for media outlets that could work best for your business and help you promote your mission. This is much harder than other ways, but still worth it for many.
5. Referral program.
Creating a referral program for either leads, discounts, or extended free trial is a great idea for many products and service-oriented businesses. Remember when Dropbox offered you more storage for referring a friend? YES, we all used it, and happily asked many friends to join. Many apps are using this form, even investing apps by offering you free stocks for each friend that joins.

Top 10 Phrases to Boost Your Confidence in 2021
There will come a time when you feel confused, unsure, and lacking in self-confidence. It could happen at work, at home with family, or even when you’re with friends or neighbors. Luckily, you can send yourself some messages that will put you back on track.
Say these top 10 phrases to boost your confidence when your self-esteem is drooping:
I am enough. Whether you think you are not smart enough, funny enough, productive enough, wealthy enough, or anything else… My main suggestion is to write I am enough on a few post-its and keep it on your mirror in the bathroom, on the fridge, by the bedroom door and a few other places you pass by, stop by daily.
I am allowed to feel however I feel. You’re a human being. Therefore, your thoughts or emotions will get the better of you from time to time. So, give yourself a break.
I can take some time to figure this out. You have a right to have some moments away from the confidence-reducing situation to think it through.
It is ok to have moments of lower self-esteem. Emotional waves are normal. All entrepreneurs go through ups and downs, feeling like a superhero or a total loser sometimes. Allow it to be, remind yourself that it’s normal and send lots of love towards yourself. The more enriched your life is, the more likely it is that low confidence will occur. It’s impossible to be on top of your game one hundred percent of the time. Your self-confidence will bounce back like it usually does. Sure, you may have hit a bump along your journey, but it’s happened before and you recovered.
I have a lot of positives in my life. It’s helpful to reflect on the high points of your existence. You may have a partner, kids, a job you love, and a home that’s comforting. Tell yourself that the positives may largely exist because of you, your choices, and your actions. Connecting with that thought will build up your confidence.
My confidence has been strong during many important life events. Remind yourself that your confidence has been there for you whenever you needed it. Maybe it was when you were giving speeches in college, discussing marriage with your partner, or preparing for a major project at work.
I have what it takes to live a productive life. You know you possess the very essence of inner strength, courage, and confidence to think and create.
I am successful. Think positively. If you adopt this statement as your personal mantra, you’ll be surprised at the things you can accomplish. What a way to boost your confidence!
Think of some famous catchphrases like, “Just do it” or “Image is everything.” Then, make up a phrase that inspires you. Some examples are, “I’m hard-working” and “I can do anything I set my mind to.”
I am rediscovering my personal strength. It takes courage to admit to being unsure about what to do in a tough situation. But acknowledging your low confidence can lead you to have the strength to move forward one step at a time.
I can always seek out guidance. If your confidence reaches such a low that you’re struggling to go forward, talk with your partner, a friend, or even a life coach if you like.
It’s helpful to receive some pointers from those familiar with fluctuating confidence levels.
Refuse to allow a momentary lag in confidence to bring you down. You’re in control of your feelings and choices. Decide to say these statements to yourself to boost your confidence when needed. You’ll be on top of your game once again.
Work from home has been a huge trend now, partly caused by COVID-19, partly by companies realizing that office cost is a huge expense and their fear of people working less, or worse at home proved only to be a limiting belief.
I am working from home for the last 10 years, and love it. However, it takes time to adjust, find a perfect time, place, setting, tools, resources, and mindset.
Here are my Top 10 ways to avoid work from home burnout:
1. Celebrate your wins.
If you are not sure what to celebrate – let’s start with the win of not driving to work and saving money on gas or having more time to sleep or Netflix more, and most importantly not seeing that annoying Becky (place your least fav coworkers’ name here) in the office.
2. Create a perfect office space.
Keep in mind it doesn’t have to be an office space out of a catalog. I personally don’t have a dedicated office, but dream of an actual room with cute motivational quotes, boards etc. I made my couch my work-station. I purchased a coffee table with a lift-top and love it. That also helps me to be near the bay window, and I love seeing trees, squirrels, birds, chipmunks, and lots of natural light.
Here are a few ideas for a tiny office space.
3. Add some scents to your office!
Yes. Working while inhaling essential oils is my thing. I love Clarity essential oil from Young Living to help me look at clients’ branding and web design concepts from different perspectives – one as me, the designer and strategist, and then as a potential client. Rosemary is my second favorite essential work to avoid work from home burnout as it helps with concentration and memory.

4. Get dressed!
This is a big one. I have worked (busted) in pajamas many days and have to admit those were the days I was slacking the most, jumping through social media, running to the fridge more, and hating myself and everything around me. So I don’t care what you feel comfortable in – wear something different than a set of PJs.
5. Schedule a walk or exercise time.
I wrote this in part as my commitment to do it more often. On those days I actually get out for a walk, either during lunch or after work, I feel better, more accomplished, and happier. A perfect break to my more sedentary, work-on-the-couch life 😉
6. Schedule time with friends or clients in person.
I know during COVID-19 Zoom and other online meetings were the only options, but as we transition back to normalcy schedule in-person meetings. I love scheduling my branding sessions or marketing strategy sessions with clients in person. I am happy I am not stuck at home, have a human connection, and can help others. So a big WIN-WIN WIN on a path to avoid work from home burnout!
7. Take ME time seriously.
What makes you happy? What gives you a sense of relaxation? A hot bath? Do it! Reading a book? Do it! I am currently reading “The Code of the Extraordinary Mind” by Vishen Laknilani. I also love painting and am working on a macrame. Do you like crocheting? Planting? Gardening? Definitely DO IT!
8. Define your schedule.
Many people will advise you to schedule your time daily 9-5 or 8-4. For me, it doesn’t work. I get most creative in the evenings after the kiddos go to sleep. Yet on other days I wake up earlier and feel ready for that exciting contract – so for me, personally, I opt to listen to my body and my mood to schedule work when I am ready mentally and can ensure I am creative, detail-oriented, and most productive.
9. To-Do list.
This is a must as it’s human to fall into a procrastination mode or assume we do tasks in 10 minutes that in fact take hours. I create my monthly to-do with deadlines and fun activities on it to keep me motivated. Also, a weekly list to keep me in check plus a daily Top 3 tasks. Note: I schedule those weekly and just shift or cross off faster if done. Download this beautiful to-do list here.

I usually write about my professional life. Here’s a twist.
As I talk to people of different ages, different life paths, and ideas I realize we are all so different and so connected at the same time.
What I Know For Sure –
Life Lesson #1 – Change is constant.
For the good, and for the bad – it’s an ever-changing life principle. As soon as you accept that everything changes, you adapt to what’s coming next much easier. Holding on to what has changed or is about to change is much more painful. We age, we grow, we move, we die. We change. Weather changes. Life changes. Earth changes. Everything changes, shifts, and moves. It’s a constant transition. Let’s appreciate the change, whenever possible, or at least accept it as is.
Life Lesson #2 – No one is irreplaceable.
This is a “tough love” quote I got from my dad. I do know you can (and should) strive to be the best you! Learn more, help others more, be nicer, kinder, better. That drive to be better makes you a better person, however, no matter what you do – you can always be replaced. Maybe for someone better or worse – yet, again, replaced. Acceptance is key in moving on.
Life Lesson #3 – Emotions are good.
I have been always masking my emotions. Fear of rejection, fear of missing out, or fear of loneliness was strongly leading me into masking and pretending. Until I realized – I am me. I must love me. I must accept me. And that’s how I can be more authentic and build my tribe – by being true to myself, my ideas, and emotions. Learning to say yes to things and people. Learning to say no very strongly is helping in loving and accepting who you are! Of course, all should be done nicely and respectfully. Accepting your emotions, working on yourself, and trusting yourself are core values that should be voiced.
Life Lesson #4 – Letting go is a gift.
Often an extremely painful one, for sure. Yet by letting go you clear the energy, and open the door to new possibilities. I am sure you have those stories too, of letting go of a painful situation only to realize in a few months or years that it was the best thing that could have happened to you! Blessing in disguise. Imagine staying in that painful relationship. Imagine still working for that psycho boss. Imagine still listening to “friends” whining and complaining… See it was definitely worth it. Moving on. Letting go of a situation! Shedding a few tears to only later realize THIS was the best New Beginning.

Here it is, and as always, way too soon and unexpected.
As we rethink what we have done, wanted to do or should have done we always come up with inner guilt. Some of our dreams and desires never happened while some unwanted circumstances happened way too often.
This year let’s change the scenario. Let’s change our perception on wants and needs. Let’s create the best year yet!
With that, I reject the list of resolutions. That crazy list I create and even stick to the fridge on occasion but never follow up, never create deadlines or action steps.
This year I am going to create a mission board. Missions with timeframes, action steps, and deadlines. With that, I am allowing myself to dream so big that surely some of the missions would extend, overlap or… not happen. For when you dream big, super big – even if the mere 20% happens it’s still a great accomplishment.
In short –
create your New Year’s Mission – be bold, be brave, take risks!
Skip the guilt, and chase your dreams!
Create goals, divide them in attainable goals but always start with “crazy goals”. I call crazy goals those we have no idea when, how, and if it’s even possible. When you start with those- you can easily find your path, your dreams, and create those more attainable, more structured goals and by that – starting the journey to your success!
What are your missions?
Here are mine:
Web Designer’s Top 5 Bold New Year’s Missions:
New Year’s Mission 1 – To inspire people to chase their dreams!
Yes, start that business you always think about, learn that skill you think is holding you back, or simply explore the world! Because it is here for our eyes to see! This is why I love so much helping entrepreneurs start their businesses – to see the dream, work hard for it (let’s be real, it is very hard work when you start a business and you are the CEO, the assistant, the sales department and the cleaning lady all in one) and succeed.
New Year’s Mission 2 – To develop my brand + web design business to be bigger and more predictable.
With that – never hesitate to contact me! I am always happy to help!
New Year’s Mission 3 – To write a book. The one I hold in my heart and on some of the scrap papers throughout the house.
New Year’s Mission 4 – To travel. Previously my resolution list has always had multiple locations without follow through. This year – action!
Glad I already planned a few things.
New Year’s Mission 5 – To embrace every failure life throws at me! This might be the hardest of it all. With the new year, I will embrace each and every failure as they lead us to wins!
